Year 7 Admission Round – September 2016 for current Year 6’s

Dear Parents

We have been issued with the following information from MCC regarding the admission process for September 2016 Year 7’s.

The Admission process for children entering year 7 in September 2016 is now underway.  Application letters have been issued to parents of year 6 children (for whom we hold a record).

Parents must make their applications prior to the closing date of 4.30 on 27th November 2015, to avoid being considered as a late application.

Parents will have the opportunity to make their applications using the Monmouthshire online admission application system.  This can be accessed via the below link:

http://www.monmouthshire.gov.uk/home/education/schools/applying-for-a-school-place/

There are, of course, paper application forms available for parents who may need them.

I would be grateful if you could arrange for this information to be publicised on your websites.  In addition, if you are able to use any other means to communicate with eligible parents to firstly ensure that they have received their application packs, and secondly are aware of the importance of applying for their child’s school place by the above closing date, it would be much appreciated.

In terms of Reception intake 2016, the application process will commence on 6th November 2015 with a closing date of 15th January 2016.  Application packs will be distributed directly to parents of children for whom we hold a record.  Again, your support to publicise this process would be very much appreciated.

Posters advertising the process are on their way to you if you are able to display them in your schools.

Finally, as discussed during recent cluster meetings, officers of the Access Unit would like to offer their assistance in supporting parents to complete application forms.  The impact of parents submitting applications after the closing date significantly reducing the opportunity for children obtaining a place at their preferred school.  If you have any forthcoming events that you feel we could attend to support parents through process, please let me know.

Kind Regards

Matt

Meet the Teacher

17 September 2015

Dear Parents

By the end of next week we will be a whole month into the new school year.  Your children will have had four weeks to settle in and our new Reception class will be attending full time.

Accordingly, we feel this would be a good time to invite all parents in to formally meet their child’s teacher(s).  Therefore we will be holding a ‘Meet the Teacher’ parent evening – Thursday 24th September for KS2 parents and Tuesday 29th for Foundation Phase.  Meetings will be held for all parents to hear a presentation at the same time from their child’s teacher followed by a Q & A session for you all to gain an understanding of who the teacher is and crucially what is being taught this term and what the arrangements are for PE etc.  Those who wish a private word can briefly see the teacher afterwards, however this is not a 1:1 parent evening to review Pupil Progress as it is too early to do so.

Therefore any parent wishing to have a longer more detailed conversation should arrange to see their child’s teacher after normal school hours any day of the week by calling the school office or speaking to the teacher at pick up time.  Most teachers are available most days, after school.

A formal 1:1 parents evening will be planned for both Spring and Summer terms as both

KS2 Meet the Teacher Thursday 24th September:

Yr.5 and Yr.6 – 6 pm

Yr.3 and Yr.4 – 6.30 pm

Foundation Phase Meet the Teacher Tuesday 29th September:

Yr. Reception – 6 pm

Yr.1 and Yr. 2 – 6.30 pm

The meetings should last approximately 20 to 30 minutes and parents will receive a hand-out of the Teacher’s presentation.

We look forward to seeing you all.

Yours sincerely

Mr A Szwagrzak

Head Teacher

Letter from Miss Reece

For Year 3 / soon to be year 4 in September 2015

Attached below is a letter from your new teacher Miss Reece who will be your year 4 teacher starting September 2015.

In the letter she also asks to help to get to know you all, can you please keep a scrap book or treasure box of your summer holiday and any places you travel to? Or maybe write a postcard? It doesn’t have to be lots of work, maybe just a few photos or drawings and a short piece of writing about the favourite thing you did during the summer holiday.

Please bring whatever you’ve done into class in the first week for show and tell.

Letter from Miss Reece

Happy summer holidays
